The ACFNY Student Advisory Board is made up of college students from schools throughout the New York metro area, with a wide range of different academic backgrounds. Board Fellows take on two chief responsibilities during their one-semester fellowship: The first is to act as ambassadors for the ACFNY, and support us in reaching out to New York’s college communities. The Austrian Cultural Forum offers a range of excellent, and totally free, cultural programming that includes many events suitable to the tastes of New York's college and University crowd. Secondly, the Advisory Board also serves as a Sounding Board: Fellows provide invaluable feedback and creative input regarding our programming.
The time commitment for Fellows is flexible, taking into account the students' various other commitments, but at a minimum consists of regular meetings, event attendance when possible, and occasional e-mail communication with the Austrian Cultural Forum. In addition to the aforementioned responsibilities, Board fellowship does carry certain benefits. Aside from the latent benefit of experience, and access to our programming, members have opportunities to attend behind-the-scenes events, receptions, Q & A’s with artists, and other special events. Furthermore, Fellows are invited to attend an annual Director's reception, hosted by Andreas Stadler. Board Fellows also help shape some aspects of our student-centric programming, allowing them to create better experiences for themselves and their peers. The board, and the various events and receptions held in conjunction with it, also serve as an excellent personal networking opportunity for students sharing common cultural and artistic interests.
