MOVING SOUNDS FESTIVAL | PERFORMANCE

KENJI OUELLET: PIÈCE TOUCHÉE NO. 2

This non-visual on-going performance by Kenji Ouellet takes place at the Austrian Cultural Forum’s 11th floor loft space, and centers on the touch sense. Starting with purely haptic choreography, the performance explores how sounds, music, language and narrative can be translated into the medium of touch. The piece is performed directly on the body of the visitor, who does not move actively.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Berlin-based media and performance artist Kenji Ouellet was born in Quebec City, Canada. He first trained as a classical at CUNY and graduated in Digital Arts at the University for Applied Arts in Vienna and in Experimental Media Design at the University of the Arts of Berlin. His body of work includes performances, fiction and dance films, and media concepts for contemporary dance choreographies. For the fifth consecutive year, the Austrian Cultural Forum New York is producing Moving Sounds, a festival dedicated to music, visual media and aesthetic dialogue that features emerging and pioneering artists who focus on electronically generated music, and those who are at the interface of classically instrumented and electronic music.
