Opera Moderne is a boutique opera company in New York City, offering special events from Chamber Opera and Art Song to Jazz and Classical Ensemble Works. This is the first concert, in a series of three, focusing on music by Jewish and Jewish communist composers of the World War II era.
Kurt Weill was part of the 1920’s leftist ‘Novembergruppe’ in Berlin before he emigrated to the United States with the Nazis' rise to power. Weill maintained a close friendship with Bertolt Brecht, who worked with him on The Three Penny Opera.
