STEFANIA STROUZA AS ARTIST IN RESIDENCE AT MANA CONTEMPORARY
WEDNESDAY, OCT 03 2018 - SUNDAY, MAR 31 2019
Visual Artist Stefania Strouza, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and currently working in Vienna and Athens, has been invited to attend the 2018-2019 studio residency program of MANA Contemporary in New Jersey.
Mana Residencies is a program established by curatorial director Ysabel Pinyol and curator Karline Moeller that gives local and international artists the opportunity to work at the organization's New Jersey headquarters.
Ms Strouza has just recently completed a residency in Mexico City. Her current research project examines the evolution of the city in relation to water. In her work, she explores vastly diverse subjects including geology, hydrology, architecture, urban planning, indigenous knowledge, colonialism, modernity, and water purification processes. The materials she uses in her sculptural works range from clay, volcanic stone, leather, cement, to activated carbon and silicon, demonstrating the trans-historical and multi-directional nature of her project.
