ABOUT THE ARTIST
German-born organist Ulrike Wegele studied Catholic Church Music at the State College of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart with Ludger Lohmann and Organ Performance and Sacred Music at the University of Music and the Performing Arts Vienna with Michael Radulescu. She has performed extensively throughout Europe and the United States and has made numerous live recordings. From 1991-1999 Ulrike Theresia Wegele was a lecturer at the College of Music in Graz, Austria. Since 1992 she has been teaching organ at the Joseph-Haydn-Konservatorium in Eisenstadt. In 1999, she was appointed professor for organ at the University of Musik in Graz (Institut Oberschützen).
Having performed at the International Organ Festival in Granada/Spain, the Haydnfestival in Eisenstadt and other renowned Festivals, she was consequently asked to give what would become one of her most celebrated performances, at the world’s biggest organ Festival in Washington D.C. in 2010.
Her repertoire embraces the works of pre-Bach masters as well as compositions for organ by Johann Sebastian Bach, the classical period, the Romantic period, and the music of the 21st century.
