Graz - The DIAGONALE film festival shows Austrian cinema at its best. It reflects the entire gamut of Austrian cinema, from the unusual to the conventional, the intellectual to the profane, and the touching to the exciting. Unparalleled in scope, its affiliation with foreign programs also introduces an international element. For six days, DIAGONALE offers festivalgoers a chance to immerse themselves in the country's current film scene, to come together with filmmakers and film enthusiasts alike, and to explore the status of film in Austria today within an international environment.
The retrospective features Austrian productions released within the last year. Representing the choice picks from the films submitted to DIAGONALE, the festival showcases Austria's present-day film scene. Films and videos from all genres and of all lengths will be shown: shorts, animations, and avant-garde productions as well as full-length documentary and feature films.

TROUBLEMAKERS: ENFANTS TERRIBLES OF THE AVANT-GARDE

Linz - In this exhibition curated by Sabine Fellner, the Lentos Art Museum shows some of the troublemakers of Austrian art history from the fin de si?cle to Actionism. The effect of the works by artists from Makart to Nitsch on the public at the time is reconstructed with about 80 works in a juxtaposition of traditional and new art currents. Press reviews and statements from contemporaries further enhance the experience. The exhibition is accompanied by a richly illustrated catalogue with scholarly articles.

New Exhibition Space for Contemporary Art
Vienna - das weisse haus is a new exhibition space for young contemporary art that opened its doors in Vienna, Austria in mid-December 2007. Its ambitious aim is to present and support young Austrian and international artists of exceptional quality. das weisse haus serves as a platform where artists can interact with different spaces, present their work, attract vitally needed publicity, and become integrated within various networks. Aside from its exhibition activities and an artist-in-residence program, das weisse haus also offers a curator-in-residency program.
