Wiener Festwochen
May 9 - June 15 | 2008
Vienna - From May 9 to June 15, 2008, the Wiener Festwochen will present a multifaceted program consisting of 42 productions from 22 countries, including four world premieres and eight new productions.
Each year, the Wiener Festwochen creates or collaborates on a series of cultural events presented over six weeks in May and June. The goal is to combine the highest artistic standards with socially relevant issues and objectives. The Wiener Festwochen is a mirror of the city's enthusiasm for culture, but it also reflects other cultures and ideologies. The 2008 festival program provides an impressive overview of international theater today in a scintillating juxtaposition of traditional and contemporary approaches. Artistic variety is what it's all about. The program includes operas, concerts, plays, and performances.

Salzburgring
Salzburg - The eighth installment of the FM4 Frequency takes place from August 14 to 16 this year. The venue, a former racetrack in the middle of the idyllic Salzburg mountains, creates an extraordinary setting for bands and festivalgoers. The festival focuses on alternative music and has already acquired cult status in the European festival scene. About 90 bands on five stages provide entertainment, diversion, and good times for three days. In addition to concerts featuring various international artists, since last year the festival has offered an extra stage for an open stage contest where young talents from all over Europe can prove their stuff.

OVERLAPPING VOICES
Israeli and Palestinian Artists
May 16 - October 26 | 2008
Essl Museum - Contemporary Art
Klosterneuburg - For the first time ever in Austria, Israeli and Palestinian artists show their art together in the Essl Museum. The exhibition is especially relevant in 2008, the 60th anniversary of the founding of Israel for some and for others a cause to reflect on the expulsion of the Palestinians. There is a growing need to look at these issues without polarization.
With the help of very individual positions, the exhibition creates a contradictory ensemble of political nuances. It relies on the potential of art to create different perceptions.
