Former police officer and luckless private investigator Simon Brenner has become an emergency medical technician, having been fired from the police force because he slept with his boss's wife. He only wants to keep out of trouble and keep a steady job for a while, but finds himself caught up in a war between two rival EMS organizations.
Brenner is dragged back into his old detective life when a well-known nurse falls victim to a double murder in a hospital. The weary Brenner doesn't care, but his young and idealistic EMS partner Berti is eager to investigate. Soon after this another murder occurs. This time a fellow paramedic is the victim.

For the Church, it's a blessing in disguise. After all, the suicide victim had recently caused quite an uproar by publicizing the scandalous recollections of his boyhood at the Catholic boarding school.
Brenner has other worries. But the victim's attractive widow comes on to him with sweet talk and a sweet offer to match. She thinks her husband was murdered. And she wants to hire Brenner to prove it.

MOZART IN CHINA

A young Chinese-Austrian boy invites his friend Danny to spend summer vacation with him at his grandfather's house on Hainan Island on the southern tip of China. Mozart, a theater marionette, comes alive that night, hides in Danny's suitcase, and flies with the two to China. With the help of his granddaughter Lin Lin, Grandfather restores his shadow theater. A friendship develops between Danny and Lin Lin, and Mozart falls in love with the beautiful shadow princess, for whom he composes the "Chinese Sonata."
A catastrophe arrives when a loan shark comes knocking at Grandfather's door. As the colorful shadow puppets come to life in the shadow theater only, Mozart and the kids have to find a solution to keep the theater intact. Will they succeed?

He wants to pay for his crime. The psychiatrist cannot see any mental illness. People around him don't think him to be evil. They like him. They want to help him and protect him from himself. And they all ask the same question: Why?
