SALZBURG MARIONETTE THEATRE ON TOUR
FRIDAY, NOV 22 2019 - SUNDAY, DEC 08 2019
The "Nutcracker," a ballet by Pjotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and the fairy tale "Snow White" by the Grimm Brothers are recognized all over the world. In this inspiring, entertaining, and educational show, the nifty Salzburg Marionette Theater's puppeteers skillfully maneuver their hand-crafted marionettes turning them into living testimonies.
The Salzburg Marionette Theater was founded in 1913 by sculptor Anton Aicher. Its inaugural performance was Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's comic opera "Bastien and Bastienne." The theater expanded its repertoire even during the years of WWI and included additional fairy tales for children. In 1937, The marionettes were awarded the gold medal at the World Fair in Paris. In 1952, Salzburg Marionette Theater gave its first performance in the US. In 2016, the Salzburg Marionette Theater was included in UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
