SCHALLFELD ENSEMBLE ON TOUR

For the first time, Schallfeld Ensemble has been invited to the USA.
February 10-15, Schallfeld will work with composers from the University of South California San Diego, joining forces with local instrumentalists, performing pieces by the PhD Students Anahita Abassi, Andrés Gutiérrez Martínez, Stephen de Filippo, Ioannis Mitsialis, Nasim Khorassani, Qingqing Wang and Tiange Zhou.

Subsequently they will be at Harvard February 17-22, performing new works for quartet by composition PhDs Lorenzo Troiani ,Marie Carroll,Kelley Sheehan,Golnaz Shariatzadeh and Chris Lock.

Through this international collaboration, Schallfeld Ensemble offers the composers in San Diego and Harvard the possibility to realize their ideas with highly specialized musicians that work at the forefront of contemporary playing techniques and musical technologies. At the same time, for the ensemble this is a unique opportunity to enlarge its artistic horizon and get in touch with new and different aesthetical positions.
In addition to funding from the ACFNY, the tour is generously supported by the Austrian General Consulate Los Angeles, AVL Cultural Foundation and Das Land Steiermark/Kultur.
ABOUT SCHALLFELD ENSEMBLE
Schallfeld is an international ensemble for contemporary music based in Graz. The group sparks the interest of its audience by its vivid virtuosity and refined chamber music sound, paired with interpretations that pay special attention to concert format, creating events that adapt to the specific venue while aiming for a new dimension of listening. The ensemble was founded in 2013 by alumni of Klangforum Wien and composition students of Kunstuniversität Graz. It currently consists of musicians from 8 nationalities and reflects the diversity and different interests of its members in its artistic direction. In the last few years, Schallfeld has been able to establish itself on international stages through exciting programming with a focus on young composers, innovative concert stagings as well as through the quality of its collective improvisations and innovative use of live-electronics. www.schallfeldensemble.com
